Guitars
Two very similar yet contrasting instruments; the Electric Guitar and the Acoustic Guitar.
I teach guitar to beginners to intermediate, and those looking to develop their knowledge of theory. Personally I would reccomend beginning on electric, as the skills are not only more easily transferrable but the electric guitar is much easier to play in terms of strength needed to play a note. However, please take a look at the brief outline of what each instrument has to offer underneath - and if you have any more inquiries, feel free to use the message box at the bottom of the page. I am more than willing to help!
Electric Guitar
This instrument offers the most variety in terms of what you can play - it offers a lot more creativity in terms of improvisation. Also, the skills from electric guitar are a lot more transferrable to its acoustic relative; something which is harder when the other way round.
Acoustic Guitar
The acoustic is a great instrument for writing songs around chords and the fact you can play it anywhere with no cables involved is a great bonus. Different skills are used on the acoustic, such as a more predominant use of finger picking etc. A great and fun way to begin learning chords
Please be mindful that there are differences between Classical and Acoustic guitars. Classical Guitars have nylon strings, and the strings are actually further apart than an Acoustic Guitar. This makes playing chords much more difficult for beginners and you'll find that the strings also go out of tune easier. It is an easy mistake to make so if you are thinking of purchasing your first guitar, please bear in mind this information.
